About The Ottawa Dragon Boat Foundation

In 1998, a charitable component was added to the Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival raising funds for local charities on an annual basis. The Ottawa Dragon Boat Foundation was established in 2003 to help focus and grow the level of community support. To date over $2,150,000 has been raised through the annual Pledge Challenge and those funds have benefited over 28 Ottawa area charities.

What is the Pledge Challenge?

The Pledge Challenge is an opportunity for our paddlers and the general public to raise funds for local charities. Money is raised on behalf of the Ottawa Dragon Boat Foundation and then dispersed to selected charities. In 2011, the Ottawa Dragon Boat Foundation will support seven charities. The fundraising goal for 2011 has not been set.  The 2010 goal was $350,000- $343,000 was raised.
